The Gāyatrī mantra is revered as a profound mantra of the Sun, traditionally practised to awaken inner clarity and illuminate the mind.Join our Saturday workshop to learn how to chant this powerful mantra, as handed down through the living Mysore lineage. You will learn how to chant the original Ṛṣi-born (seer / sage) mantra which in turn connects you to its full vibrational power — exactly as it was intended. You may have heard different versions of the Gāyatrī mantra or other Vedic mantras and wondered: Which one is correct? Is it disrespectful to mispronounce or sing these mantras? Is chanting the Vedas different from singing them? Whether you have already explored some mantras or are completely new to the practice, you may wonder if you are learning in the most authentic way. With many versions of the Gāyatrī mantra and other chants circulating today, it can be difficult to know which approach preserves their true form and effectiveness. Several authentic lineages continue this practice today. While they share many rules of pronunciation and recitation, each lineage also carries its own subtle nuances that shape how the mantras are transmitted and practised. This workshop will focus on how to correctly chant the famous Gāyatrī mantra along with understanding its meaning and giving you a contextual introduction to vedic chanting. It is suitable for beginners or those who are looking to improve their existing practice. The oldest known Indian scriptures are the vast body of Sanskrit poetry called the Vedas.
