Cookie Policy

1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit. Similar technologies such as local storage may also be used.
2. Cookies we use
Kin uses only cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the platform. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Maintains your login session (Supabase authentication) | Session / up to 1 week |
| sb-*-auth-token-code-verifier | PKCE code verifier used during OAuth login (e.g. Sign in with Google) | Session |
3. Similar technologies — session storage
In addition to cookies, Kin uses browser session storage (a similar technology covered by PECR) for first-party analytics. Session storage is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab and is never accessible to third parties.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _circle_sid | A randomly generated session identifier used to group page views and interactions within a single browsing session. Used solely to understand how the platform is used and improve it. No personal data is stored in this value and it cannot be used to identify you across sessions or devices. | Browser session (deleted on tab close) |
We rely on our legitimate interests in understanding how Kin is used to operate and improve the platform as the legal basis for this analytics. The data collected is first-party, session-scoped, and not shared with any third party.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
The authentication cookies listed above are strictly necessary for Kin to function. Without them, you would not be able to sign in or access your saved events. Under PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), strictly necessary cookies do not require your prior consent.
5. Third-party cookies
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies during the authentication flow. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Our hosting provider, Vercel, may set cookies for security and performance purposes. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
6. How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies will prevent you from signing in to Kin. For guidance on managing cookies, visit aboutcookies.org.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
