Beckenham Place Park
Explore, create, and connect in nature's boundless playground. Our curated day events are designed to immerse you in the beauty of nature while igniting your creative spark. Celebrate the summer solstice with us in bloom. Join us for a gentle afternoon in Beckenham Place Park, making your own flower crown in community as we welcome the new season. We’ll be spending the afternoon crafting with fresh florals, soaking up the beauty of the park, and enjoying food, drinks and good company. You’ll be guided through the process of creating your own crown, with all materials provided. No floristry experience needed — just come as you are. This session will be led by Amber, That Flower Babe. She has a passion to create floral pieces that help connect communities to both nature and each other. Through bouquet workshops to flower crowns, Amber enjoys teaching a range of different groups and helping them access that inner florist within all of us. About Touch Grass Touch Grass is an outdoor community for queer women, trans and non-binary people of colour. We are committed to fostering community growth through outdoor gatherings and wellness-focused trips that encourage us to rekindle our relationship with nature. Our immersive experiences go beyond relaxation — they're about empowerment, healing, and forging meaningful connections. Our vision is for queer people of colour to see the outdoors as a space where we belong. A 2020 report by Friends of the Earth found that nearly 40% of people from minority ethnic backgrounds in England live in the most green space-deprived neighbourhoods, compared with only 14% of white people — and that people from minority ethnic backgrounds are significantly less likely to spend time in the countryside than white people. We want to change this. We deserve joyful, safe access to the emotional well-being and physical health benefits of nature too. We believe creativity and nature go hand in hand, which is why most of our events encourage you to embrace nature and your inner creative spirit.
